10" broadcast monitor, piano stool, DVD player | colour, silent | 04:00 loop

A montage of 8mm film and home movie clips presents memories of my grandfather and his piano. Close-up shots explore the forms and textures of the instrument's mechanism, body and strings. Cine-8 footage shot by my grandfather in the 1960s is combined with video images that document the piano's recent transportation from Israel to the UK.
Part of a series of works exploring themes of memory, music and migration: previous projects are Threads (2006) and Jungtis (2008-11), both in collaboration with Tom Simmons.
Photographs from the exhibition TROUBLING THE MAP at Kent House, London, UK, May 2011.
