INSTALLATION
Glass bottle, 8mm projector, collection of hardback books and sheet music for piano
An 8mm film loop is projected onto the base of a small glass bottle, which lies on a pile of old books and piano music. The film shows a hazy seascape, shot from the stern of a moving ferry. The distant harbour gets gradually smaller as the boat moves out to sea; water churns behind the vessel; a small, white sailboat drifts into shot.
Looking through the neck of the bottle, the scene appears contained within the glass- a miniature world, a message from another time and place.
