INSTALLATION
Glass bottle, 8mm film projector, collection of hardback books and sheet music for piano
An 8mm film loop is projected onto the base of a small glass bottle, which lies on a pile of hardback books and sheet music for piano. The film shows a hazy seascape, shot from the stern of a moving ferry. The distant harbour gets gradually smaller as the boat moves out to sea; water churns behind the vessel; a white sailboat drifts into shot.
Viewed through the neck of the bottle, the scene appears contained within the glass object- a miniature world, a message from another time and place.
First presented in the iauliu Universitetas Dailés Galerija in 2008, Jungtis is part of an ongoing body of work which explores the artists' joint fascination with musical instruments and memory.
